I am working on improving my scheduling for Outschool so I’ve been trying to list classes for the next 2-3 months. I have just listed some new classes and want to share them with you!
Ongoing Story Time: Retells & Review
This will be my second time running this fun interactive reading comprehension class. We meet weekly to enjoy a fun text, practice the skills of a retell and then share our reviews of the story. Such a fun way to enjoy a good book and strengthen reading comprehension.
Ongoing Story Time: Moral or Main Idea & Review
Parent feedback really encouraged me to create this class similar to the “Retell” version. In this section we enjoy a new set of books and work together to determine the moral or main idea. Last, we write up and share a review. Although this classis listed as a follow up to Retells and Reviews, this class is not a prerequisite!
Weekly Word Problems
This ongoing class gives students the opportunity to practice solving various types of word problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. With each problem students are prompted to highlight key words and clues, draw a model or picture, solve with an equation and write their answer as a complete statement. My Voice: Kids Creating Change
I love teaching all my classes but this one is definitely a favorite. My Voice is the student voice program I founded and this class is all about students finding and using their voice. Together we talk about what activism is, see some examples of young activists, then discuss some ideas around creating change. Every section of this class has left me inspired and full of hope for the future.
My Voice: Activism In Action
This class allows young changemakers to brainstorm solutions to some of the world’s big problems like homelessness and environment protection. There is also an ongoing version of this class offered to learn about these topics more in depth.
I look forward to another set of fun educational classes with awesome students. Please reach out if you’d like more information or have any questions!
